Race direction
THE WINNER
Cape Horn Race® charter defines the race concept in order to preserve its special characteristics and originality of itinerary. In this manner, the winner may welcome the following edition in 2017-2018 in his country, his port and his yacht club so as to perpetuate a spirit of goodwill and solidarity with other world cultures.
RACE RULES
The event is an I.R.C. handicap race, governed by the latest regulations and modified by race instructions: ISAF rules (RRS), Offshore Special Regulations and IRC rules; National sailing authorities where appropriate, yacht-class rules where applicable, special security regulations promulgated by Chilean maritime authorities in the vicinity of Cape Horn, and any special conditions defined in Notice of Race, including specific authorisation of publicity on yachts and use of English as maritime language.
Committee of honour
For the first edition, the organisation’s Committee of Honour comprises: Jean Pierre Tuvéri, Mayor of Saint-Tropez, President of the Committee of Honour; Admiral Edmundo González Robles, Commander-in-Chief of the Chilean Navy; Admiral Oscar Adolfo Arce, National Maritime Prefect of Argentina; Doctor Frank Boumendil, Deputy Mayor of Saint-Tropez for Maritime Affairs; André Beaufils, President of the Nautical Society of Saint-Tropez, Gonzalo Yanzi, President of Yacht Club of Ushuaia (AFASyN), Ricardo Galarce, Commodore of Yacht Club Argentino, and other distinguished personalities may be anticipated…
Organisation Committee
For the first version, Cape Horn Race® shall constitute an Organisation Committee comprising: Rear Admiral Roberto Benavente Mercado, President of honour of the Organisation Committee; Alec Honey, President founder of Cape Horn Race® and President of the Organisation Committee; and Sylvie Viant, FFV, Race Director. The organising authority shall appoint: a race committee, a protest committee and a measurement committee, which will be published in a notice of race that conforms to RRS J1. The Nautical Society of Saint-Tropez will act as the host yacht club for the departure and arrival in its own town, and each host club at different stop-over ports will propose its own President of the Race Committee, including the Nautical Society of Saint-Tropez, Yacht Club Argentino and Club Náutico Oceánico de Chile.
