Jean-Pierre TuvériMayor of Saint-TropezJean-Pierre Tuvéri has a diploma at the Institute of Political Studies in Paris and is a doctor of economic-science at the University of Paris. He held an executive post of Director of OCDE (Cooperation and Economic Development Organisation). Retired from his functions, he devoted his time to Saint-Tropez as town municipal councillor from 2001 to 2008, and was elected Mayor of the Commune in 2008. Jean-Pierre Tuvéri holds a Merchant Navy bronze medal and Central life-Saving Society (SCS) silver medal for act of courage and devotion. |

Frank BoumendilDeputy Mayor of Saint-Tropez for maritime and port projects and renewable energy: General PractitionerFrank Boumendil, currently deputy Mayor of Saint-Tropez, studied at Janson of Sailly College in Paris, then at a medical faculty in Paris, C.H.U. Bichat-Beaujon, and obtained a doctorate in Medicine. He then practiced for 10 years with the corps of SOS Médecins, before creating SOS Doctors in London. Since his return to France and Saint-Tropez 8 years ago, he has pursued his profession as a General Practitioner. |

Offering security for the lives of those at sea; protecting the environment and cooperating in coordinating both commercial shipping and sporting craft; are, and will always be, institutional priorities. |

André BeaufilsPresident of the Nautical Society of Saint-TropezAndré Beaufils in fact participated in organising the first "Nioulargue" together with Patrice de Colmont, and since then he has successfully steered this event, known today as: "Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez". He will soon celebrate 14 years as President of S.N.S.T. (1989 à 1991 and 2000 to date). His dedication, as well as other club volunteers, has largely contributed to the continued success and development of the Corsican city’s nautical life. In the same manner, many activities have been adapted to suit the needs of racing, cruising and fishing, making the Nautical Society of Saint-Tropez the most active club in the Mediterranean (prize attributed by the F.F.V. in December 2008), and with nearly 500 members, the S.N.S.T. organise (or co-organise) more than 15 events throughout the year (Challenge IRC, ARMEN Festival, 1000 nautical miles, Voiles Latines, Giraglia Rolex Cup, Trophy Bailli de Suffren, Voiles de Saint-Tropez, Dragon event, and Voiles d’Automne) in addition to fishing, cruising and other activities. |

I provided charts of Cape Horn zone, and I asked for the support of the Commander-in-Chief of the Chilean Navy, Admiral Edmundo González Robles, for the passage of yachts around the Horn. I am delighted to inform you therefore that the Chilean Navy is providing logistic support for the race in order to ensure the security of yachts and crew. Moreover, the Chilean Brotherhood of cape-horners has decided to present a trophy to the first yacht to cross Cape Horn’s southern meridian!” |

Sylvie ViantRace DirectorSylvie Viant is one of the first contemporary female cape-horners to race around the world (Whitbread 1973-1974) onboard Grand Louis, skippered by her father André Viant, in addition to 2 legs of a race in 1981. As skipper, she has participated in a number of transatlantic races onboard fully-crewed monohulls: La Rochelle - La Nouvelle Orléans, 1982 ; Québec – St Malo, 1984 ; Monaco - New York, 1985 ; Lorient - St Pierre et Miquelon – Lorient, 1987 ; and a 2-crew 40ft multihull race, Lorient - Les Bermudes - Lorient in 1983. As member of a race committee or as race director, Sylvie has organised the following races at UNCL since 1982: Route du Rhum from 1982 to 2006; Tour de France à la Voile from 1982 to 2007; Vendée Globe from 1989 to 2008, and Transat Jacques Vabre since 1993… |

Alec Honey Ph.D. (British) - PresidentCape Horn RaceAlec Honey has a first-class honours degree and Doctorate in Philosophy, and he has written an original literary thesis in French. He presents an article on Guy de Maupassant at the University of Rouen, published by les Amis de Flaubert and Maupassant, 2003, and he is preparing his first book on the same author. Major in the Parachute Regiment, he has commanded up to 200 men and women on active service throughout the world, and he has organised sporting events for about 600 people. As company director in France, he has controlled an emergency centre with 350,000 clients. Alec’s maternal language is English and his skills include translation, interpretation, research and analysis, communication, and the production of documents in English and French. Project manager onboard Great Britain II (23m) throughout the first Whitbread around the world race in 1973-1974, Honey wins line-honours as co-skipper and navigator with Sir Chay Blyth. Alec is a member of the British, Chilean and French cape-horners’ associations. He visits Chile in 2006 and meets the President of the Chilean brotherhood, Rear Admiral Roberto Benavente. Honey is the first team navigator and co-skipper to race around the world and to pass Cape Horn (23 January 1974) in a recognized yacht race (1973-1974).
President and chief instructor of the Mediterranean Sailing School, Port Camargue and Cassis; first specialist offshore cruising school in the Med for Anglo-Saxons, and recognised by the International Sailing Schools Association and the F.F.V. Alec creates his own association, publicity and promotion with success. Honey is member of the Royal Ocean Racing Club (1974); Royal Institute of Navigation (1981); and he is elected member of the Royal Cruising Club (1984). Skipper for the British Steel Challenge project, race around the world east to west, with Sir Chay Blyth in 1992, he prepares an amateur crew for yacht Rhône Poulenc (20m). Professor of English at the National Merchant Navy School, Marseille (2004-2006). Maritime lecturer onboard Queen Mary 2 during her maiden voyage around Cape Horn (1 February 2006); Honey is also operational maritime-communication coordinator in English at the Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre (Cross Med) at Toulon in 2006. Alec has 29 years experience of professional navigation in the South of France. |

Alejandra Gomez-MalgorVice President and Latin-American RelationsVice President Founder, responsible for Latin-American Relations, trilingual Spanish, French and English, Alejandra has a diploma in law obtained at the Faculty of Law, University of Buenos Aires and has a diploma in Political Science at the University of Paris II, Panthéon Assas. Lecturer at the faculty of law, University of Nanterre: public law, Spanish for a law degree, and French/Spanish law. In Argentina, Alejandra has worked as jurist for business affairs. She has a excellent comprehension of political, economic and cultural reality in Latin America in order to welcome and liaise firstly with the race organization, sponsors, clients and crews; and secondly with local actors and partners, in particular with the Prefecture, Parliamentary Commission, Tourist Office, as well as media and local organisations. |
